We enjoyed a very successful 2017 breeding season, with the farm full to capacity. Some mares have now travelled back interstate opening vacancies for permanent mares on farm.
We are also taking bookings for the upcoming 2018 breeding season.
Owners planning to transport their broodmares to Merton Creek Thoroughbreds at any time will need to provide some information (if known) prior to their mare’s arrival.
Broodmare Checklist
Mare’s name
Last service date
Name of stallion
Last vaccination date for tetanus & strangles
Last farrier trim date
Last drench date
Ideally your mare should arrive at Merton Creek Thoroughbreds at least 30 days prior to her expected foaling date. Travelling a mare, heavy in foal, closer to her due date is not advised. This also allows her digestive system to adjust to the change in pasture and supplement feed.
Mares for Free Lease
We have some mares available for free lease to existing or prospective clients. This may be the perfect solution to those wishing to breed a foal for either the first time or using a particular bloodline.
